New flosstube episode

I’ve recorded and am uploading episode 7 of From the Stash Pile. This Alessandra Adelaide piece was my show and tell, and I said that I would post an up close photo here as the glare was so bad on the screen. It was hard to see! This is her “Coffee” pattern and I used 32 count fabric (of some sort…) and stitched one thread over one using DMC cotton.

Happy Tuesday!

The framing shop in Wortley Village has an AMAZING type of glass for pictures – non-glare (to the point that you cannot tell that there is glass in the frame). A mite pricier, but the effect is worth it!

Yes, my framer has it as well and up until now I wasn’t spending the extra on it. I did do a Christmas piece that I used it in earlier this year so I might show that next episode and see if the situation improves 😉 How ARE you??

Hi Caroline. Love your flosstube videos. The have inspired me to make quite a few purchases in the last couple of weeks because I love the pieces that you seem to love. I have been cross stitching on and off for about 20 years but haven’t deviated from standard DMC cotton floss and Aida cloth. I am interested in starting some new pieces that recommend silk threads and I wanted to pick your brain about the differences between the two. Got any thoughts/advice?

Hello! First of all, my apologies for the delay – your comment was buried in amongst the spam which is really annoying….. This is a huge question and frankly worthy of a blog post. It’s mostly personal preference to be totally honest and what one person loves, someone else will hate. Where are you located? I’d be happy to send you a scrap of linen and some leftover silk so you can see and feel if it’s something you’d like. Send me an email caroline AT macoutpost DOT com and maybe we can figure something out!
