another blanket and a new sport

Back in Georgian Bay for the next few weeks, the routine of caring for an off the grid simple life back in place feels great. Laundry is out on the line and my husband has done some maintenance on the deep cycle batteries that help to power us. They need to be filled with distilled water in order to work properly and that must be replaced every now and then. My son has been learning to fish, and my daughter is working on a slide presentation of photos for the memorial service for her grandma on Saturday. So now it’s time to knit!

The garter stitch project is one that’s been floating around in my brain for while now. I’ve had the yarn for a while and the inspiration came from Kristen and her cozy gingham blanket. I’m organizing my colours a bit differently and they will be a bit louder than her lovely gingham, but that’s what made me start planning what to do and reminded me how much I love garter stitch. Miles upon miles of garter stitch…………

My daughter has started to learn how to kayak this summer. She’s taken to it very quickly showing natural ability that obviously comes genetically from her father and not me. I’m sure she will be off and exploring the watery nooks and crannies of our home for many years to come.

Hello Caroline, just a quick visit to tell you your photos will be on my blog next week. I’m sorry to ready about your loss. Your MIL did a good job teaching you to knit. I too love the warm early tones you’ve chosen. Take care, dear. xx
